I finally finished these socks. They still have a bit of a scratch and sniff quality about them but I'm hoping that it will wear off or wash out or at least be so far from my nose that I won't notice. I have a few inches of sock blank left but I'm not sure if I will have cause to use it any time soon. I'm happy with how these came out, both because it was my first time dying with kool aid and because it was my first pair of socks from the toes up. The shaping is perhaps not quite so nice but it I can see how it would be worth it if I was worried about running out of yarn.

I'm almost half way done with this lace project. I added an extra repeat of the middle pattern, hopefully I'll have enough yarn. The balls don't seem to be getting much smaller so I'm not too worried. I'm not all that happy with how the edges are looking on this project but I'm hoping they'll look better once I block it.

It's been a while since we watched this and I don't remember it all that well but what I do remember is that it was quite enjoyable and humerous and certainly full of catchy tunes and possibly that the ending was rather abrupt. Also while we're on the topic I highly recommend the musical episode of Buffy called "One More Time with Feeling" which is truly great. And if you don't believe me just watch a few episodes of Torchwood first.

I got the materials for this jumper as pre-died combed tops. I thought it would be boring just spinning natural colored yarn all the time but as it turns out I would much rather either dye the stuff myself or stick with a more natural color. The final yarn (which I plied) has a bit of plastic-ness about it just because the color is too fake and too evenly spread. Other than that it is soft and quite comfortable and this pattern worked out great because it was knit from the top down so I worked on the sleeves and the body at the same time to make sure I wouldn't run out of yarn with one cuff to go. I'm currently spinning using the woolen method but I would like to try spinning tops again especially if I get to hand paint them first.

Imagine that there are no plants left on earth and that you have devoted the last 8 years of your life to growing a forest in outer space in a series of domes. Now imagine that the government decides that they don't actually need plants on earth and for whatever reason they are going to nuke all of your domes and send you back to earth. Not so bad of a premis for a movie. Now imagine that you are stupid (plants need sunlight?), unmotivated and a bit mean and that you are stuck with a bad 70s hair cut. Unless you want to add a wandering plot and a crappy ending to this already painful experience I advise avoiding this movie. The only redeeming bit of this movie is the subtly amusing drone robots who manage to have more personality than the main character despite not saying anything. Unfortunatly, that isnt enough to save them from him. And, As if all that wasn't bad enough, I almost forgot to mention the awful 70's sappy soundrack.

I wasn't entirely happy with the cable pattern I picked for the upper part of the front so I ripped it out and picked something different. This one is a bit flatter and blends in a bit better with the other cables. I'm holding off on the neck shaping until I do the back and I can sort of pin it together and see how its looking. I was hoping that adding a bit of extra cabling in the top half would add a bit of shaping but I'll have to wait and see how it looks. It's a bit hard to be motivated to work on it at the moment since it warmed up so much.

The first time I stared these socks I cast on too many so I finally gave in and ripped them out and started again. This time I think they will fit much better although I may have made them a bit too long. I'm going to do another inch or so and then try them on and see how they feel. The last few pairs of socks I made were a bit too lose so I'm really trying to not worry so much about them wearing out this time and make sure they fit a bit snugger.
Also the first time I started I used a slightly fancy rib pattern and this time I'm just doing a plane rib.
