pattern size modification

Well it seems that the smallest size availalbe for this sweater was larger than the size that I wanted to make.  Also, when I was yarn shopping the woman at the shop sold me yarn that knitted up at a larger guage than what the pattern called for.  So, for the back I cast on 59 stitches (the smallest size is 37 inches with a cast on edge of 70 stitches).  The back went really quickly but I got a bit nervous about the size but the ratios all hold up so I'm going to start on the front pieces soon.

Rather than just making this sweater with the stockingnet stitch I'm using a cable pattern.

Row 1 & 5: Knit.
Even Rows: Purl.
Row 3: K1, *sl 2 sts onto cn and hold at front, k2, k2 from cn, k4; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 7: K4, sl 2 sts onto cn and hold at back, k2, k2 from cn, *k4, sl 2 sts onto cn and hold at back, k2, k2 from cn; repeat from * ending with k1.

I didn't have the same gauge as the pattern so I'm making the 41" pattern but its coming out at more like 32".  Also I dropped the length to 12.5" before the arm shaping and I think I'm going to shorten the arm hole to 9 to make the curled up bottom edge hit me more on the waist and not on the widest part of my hips.

I have no funny stories this week becuase I've been working too much but Kim sent me some flowers so I thought I'd post a few photos because they make me smile and that seems like of of the cheif criteria of an amusing anecdote.

So I'm modifying the pattern a bit and I was knitting one night when I was frustrated and those two things combined mean that I've ripped out the top half of the front of this sweater several times. The last time I must have not put all the stitches back on the needles but I only just noticed and I've already done almost the whole armhole.

See the dropped stitch there by my thumb? I decided to just attach it somehow later, maybe with a bit of white thread. I know that I should go back and fix it but this sweater that I imagined as something to relax in is turnign out a tad stressful.

Oh wait I thought of something funny.

So either I was dreaming last night or Mollie had a bit of a hairball incident in my apartment and I haven't found it yet...

Well I noticed that I was starting to get junk comments from my web form so I decided to institute a bit of security with reCAPTCHA which is a service that allows me to make sure comments are coming from humans and not bots.  Plus, every time you make a comment you'll be helping to digitize books.  Also please note that there is a little button next to the box where you type the words in that allows you to choose a different image if you can't make out the one that is displayed.  Also, I tried to make sure that if it didn't work your comment would be saved for you to try again, let me know what you think.
